KILWORTH AND ARAGLEN ÓG MEDALS PRESENTATION
The famous ‘Kilara Óg’ brand may be no more, however, juvenile teams from the parish of Kilworth and Araglin continue to achieve great success on the field of play.
Medals won during the 2022 season by the U12s, U13s and U17 sides were presented at a function held in the hall of St. Martin’s National School, Kilworth last Saturday evening. These medals were presented by Cork hurler, defender Niall O’Leary, who plays his club hurling with Castlelyons. Well done to Niall on taking time out from a busy schedule to do the honours. Niall encouraged the young players to focus on their skills, apply themselves to training and to always strive to improve.
MC for the occasion was Thomas Fitzgerald Jr. from Araglin, the chairman of Kilworth and Araglen Óg. In his address, Tom, thanked the players, their coaches and the parents. He went on to acknowledge the close co-operation between both sides of the parish and said that with the necessary effort, more success was possible. Tom also remarked on the close friendships that were formed as a result of the amalgamation.
Tom also paid tribute to the Kilworth & Araglen Óg secretary, Alan Kenny, who does a tremendous amount of work, much of it behind the scenes.
Following formalities, photographs were taken and autographs signed. Refreshments were also served - a special word of thanks to the parents who assisted with the catering.
GOING WELL
It’s full steam ahead at the moment for the players involved with Kilworth and Araglen Óg. Thanks to the commitment of their mentors and the spirit of goodwill that exists, very significant progress is being made. We wish all concerned further success into the future.
