Grade II Men in Munster Winter League final
Super Sunday started with our Grade 6 ladies team of Karen Hoare (capt), Nora Quane, Laura Manning and Nollaig Baker taking on a strong Bishopstown. Fantastic tennis all round.
It was 1-1 after the first two matches following a dramatic 3rd set tie break win. The drama didn’t stop there with the second round of matches going one apiece with one Mitchelstown pair having to retire through injury, and the other winning in three sets!
Super doubles it was and unfortunately after some close games it was not to be for the ladies. They lost 3-2 overall. Well done to a great team on their fantastic league campaign.
The action continued when the Grade 2 men finally got on court, playing a reputably very strong Causeway team. All 4 matches going to three sets resulting in 2-2. This meant more super doubles! Aidan and Michael had an emphatic 6-1 win in the super set! They now look forward to the Munster Winter League final in Catholic Institute Limerick on Sunday 28th at 2pm. Congratulations and well done to Michael Waldron (capt) Aidan McNamara, Denis Linehan and Ciaran O’Kennedy.

SOCIAL TENNIS EVENING
A wonderful evening at our club social evening last Friday. The sun was shining, great tennis, tea and chats with many new faces. Our next social tennis evening is tomorrow Friday, June 9th at 6.30pm-8.30pm, come along and join us for tennis and a cuppa. All welcome. Open to non-members.
ADULT COACHING
A new term of coaching with head coach Stephen McInerney begins this week, with almost 50 participants over four sessions.
JUNIOR NEWS
Our junior afterschool coaching sessions returned this Tuesday and Wednesday lead by club coach Stephen McInerney, with great enthusiasm and excitement in the sunshine. Many beginners and some progressing to the next level within their age group. It is wonderful to see so many juniors joining and progressing.
Our junior matchplay tennis continues every Sunday morning. Red ball 5-8years 9.30am to 10.30am. Orange/green ball 9-12years 10.30am-11.30am. New members welcome to come along and try it out.
QUIZ NIGHT
The club will host a fundraising table quiz on Friday, 26th May at 8.30pm in Jackie O’Brien’s, Mitchelstown. Cash prizes and lots of raffle prizes. All welcome, please support.
