2 good wins in a matter of a few days for the Seniors has seen them really get into the push for a promotion place.

It began with a 5-2 win over Youghal on Wednesday last. First half goals by Kenneth Dawson, Dale Dawson and David Chambers had them well in control at half time. They added 2 more in the second half before Youghal scored their 2 goals in the final 10 minutes.

Macroom 0 Fermoy 4

On Saturday they travelled to Macroom to take on the home side and came away with an impressive 4-0 win. They have a vital home game against Casement Celtic on this Friday night and will be hoping to keep the winning run going.

U14 LEAGUE Fermoy 5 Corkbeg 3

Fermoy U14s welcomed Corkbeg to Carrig Park on Sunday for a league match. Fermoy started strongly with a great run and finish by Steven. Corkbeg rallied and equalised towards the end of the first half.

Then the Ger Show began. Ger scored his first with a good turn and shot in the box. The second, running onto a great through ball from Steven and he completed his hat-trick early in the second half. Corkbeg scored twice to make it a nervy finish. Some last gasp defending kept Corkbeg at bay, and thankfully, Steven scored his second to make the score 5-3.

That is the way it finished. A great performance and result from the boys.

U12 LEAGUE Fermoy 3 College Corinthians A 3

A breezy morning in Fermoy for the Div 1 league game against Corinthians.

It was a close game in the early part of the game with no great chances for either team. It was a through ball to Fermoy that set up the scoring with the player running through the line and calmly finishing the ball for the lead. Corinthians kept at it and got a reward before half time to see the sides going in level at half time.

Corinthians started the second half with a bang! A quick goal gave them the lead in this tight battle. Fermoy were not about to give up, such is the spirit of the team and from a lovely cross, the ball deflected in of a Corinthians defender and into the net. It was end to end stuff at this stage and Fermoy took the lead with a fine run and strike to give them a narrow advantage with time running out. Corinthians were not done yet and a lovely turn and strike levelled the game again. That’s how it ended, a share of the spoils. Thanks to Corinthians for a sporting game and to the referee who handled the game very professionally.

Fermoy U14A had a great 3-0 win on Saturday against Carrigaline. A hat-trick from Fionn O’Dwyer resulted in Fermoy returning to top of league with 3 games remaining.
