U14s wrap up league campaign

-

The U14s travelled to Carraig na bhFear on Friday evening to play St Colmcilles in their final fixture of the East Cork Div 1 League. The first 12 minutes were all Watergrasshill as the boys registered 2-3 to Colmcille’s 1 point. However the hosts had no intention of lying down and scored 6 unanswered points to leave Watergrasshill with only a 2 point cushion at half time.

A tough half time talk got the lads scrapping harder in the second half but soft frees due to indiscipline from the visitors allowed St Colmcilles to eke out a draw. Finishing mid-table in the league the lads now look forward to the championship in June.

SCIATH NA SCOL GIRLS PROGRESS

Congratulations to the girls Sciath na Scol team from Watergrasshill National School who won their semi-final last Wednesday afternoon and are now off to Páirc Uí Chaoimh for the final.

Well done girls, we wish you all the very best in the final. It’s great to have both the girls’ and boys’ teams through to their respective finals, a great reward for the work they have all put in throughout the year.

INTERMEDIATES WIN AGAIN

Congratulations to our intermediates who had a great win over Argideen Rangers last weekend, 1-12 to 0-11. A slow start to the campaign saw us lose to Ballygiblin and win against Castlemartyr, but that was followed by a narrow defeat to Cloughduv. All the while, even though the results were not showing, Pat Heffernan’s young team were gelling nicely and the displays were always impressive.

Since that loss to Cloughduv though, the lads have beaten Midleton, Dungourney and Argideen Rangers and now lie 4th in the table with Mayfield, who are third up next on May 23rd.

FUN IN SUN FOR U8S

Well done to the 25 U8 boys from Watergrasshill who travelled to Whitechurch last weekend to play in a blitz. A fantastic sunny morning matched by some super hurling from the boys. The boys improve every time they go out and that is as a result of how well they train which is now paying off for them, they always manage to have fun too which is great to see.
