Comfortable afternoon for Newcestown

-

Kilworth 0-09 Newcestown 2-26

Our Intermediate hurlers suffered a heavy defeat to Newcestown in the Red FM Division 3 hurling league played in Kilworth last Saturday afternoon. Missing a number of players due to injury, we led 0-2 to 0-0 within a minute of throw in and the opening quarter was a close affair.

The sides were level 0-3 a piece after 10 minutes and the score read 0-4 to 0-6 to the Carbery men after 15 minutes. However, Newcestown went on to dominate the second quarter, adding 2-7 to 0-1 to lead 2-13 to 0-5 at the interval. It was always going to be a case of damage limitation in the second half but Newcestown continued where they left off, going on to outscore us 0-13 to 0-4 in the second period to record a very comfortable win.

Team and scorers; S O’Brien, S Óg Kenneally 0-1, K Lane, D Twomey, A O’Hara, E Carey 0-1, R Jordan, M Gowen, M O’Callaghan 0-2, L Coffey, N Byrne 0-1, Pierse O’Riordan 0-1, M Sheehan 0-2 (2fs) C Donnellan 0-1, B Sheehan. Subs used, B Dunne, B Casey, J Horgan.
