Floodlights completed

Well done to the development committee and all who helped to ensure this floodlight and pitch surface project in the main Glenville pitch was completed. A fantastic asset going forward for all our parish teams.

U12

Glenville 3-9 Na Piarsaigh 2-8

We put in an excellent team performance against Na Piarsaigh that earned us the victory. The great weather allowed us to play passing football throughout the game, making the most of the ideal conditions.

Our captain, Danny Murphy, was in fine form, making several fantastic saves to retain our lead on numerous occasions. We knew we had to work hard against a tough team like Na Piarsaigh.

Our team turned up, and the credit goes to every individual player. We worked tirelessly throughout the match, with some amazing performances from R Lehane, Jack O’Sullivan, Cian Murphy, Darragh Noonan and Donagh McHugh. Even though Na Piarsaigh kept pressuring us, we kept them at bay and held onto our lead.

U16 C

We had some excellent passages of play, and our teamwork was incredible, leading to scores from Cormac McCarthy who was in top form once again. We are very pleased with our third win of the season, and it’s great to see the improvement we’ve made in recent games. It was a hard-earned win that we deserved, and we enjoyed the smiles at the final whistle.

Our U16 C3 team made it 3 wins from 3 in their league game against Ballincollig last Wednesday night in a very tight game. It was always going to be a tough assignment away to Ballincollig, and with Adam, Daire, Eoghan, and Zach all missing through injury or illness the odds were stacked against us. Our expectations were further dampened when the physical disparity in size between the Ballincollig boys and the Glenville lads became apparent as they went through their respective warm-ups!

However, we got off to a strong start, and the boys worked their socks off across the field, out running and out-hustling their opposite numbers to take an early lead. The game was very tight through-out and there was never more than a couple of points in it but a goal from full forward Donnacha and a penalty save from Louie proved decisive in the end in a two point victory, on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-7.

With only three players on the age on this team, and our U15 squad and some U14s making up the rest of the numbers, it was great to see the effort from the team rewarded. Every player made a huge contribution, but Daniel at corner-back and Josh at centre-back deserve special mention as they proved size is no barrier to success in this game.

Team: L Guichard; A Casey, S Callinan, D O’Connor; J Kelleher, J Madden, R Kelleher; D Barry, (0-5) J Hennebry (0-2); D McCarthy, C Buckley (0-1), T McCarthy; J Counihan (0-4), D O’Leary (1-0), E Hartnett; W Manley, G Fitzgerald.

Next up for this team is a home fixture v Glanmire in Glenville.
