This weekend we have a number of players travelling to Kerry to play in the Munster Matchplay. In the intermedia­te section we have Gavin Dawson, JJ Quirke and Ryan Sexton -they are playing in Listowel. In the senior section we have Daithi Sexton, John Cahill, Paudi O’Sullivan and Decky Freeman and they are playing in Tralee. We wish all players the very best on Saturday 20th and Sunday, 21st May.

LADIES REPORT

Catherine O’Gorman and Kathleen Grumbridge sponsored the ladies’ competitio­n. On Tuesday, 9th May the ladies played a 4 ball competitio­n which was kindly sponsored by Catherine and Kathleen. There was a great turnout on the night, the course and weather were great and all the ladies enjoyed their game. On behalf of all the ladies we would like to thank both Catherine and Kathleen for their kind sponsorshi­p and beautiful prizes. Both of these ladies have been sponsoring the ladies for a long time and are very popular members of our club. They both love the game and social side of the club. They also are great to give a helping hand when needed and are on the ladies committee. We would like to wish them both the very best and thank them for all the work they do for our club.

Winners on the night were Catherine Waters and Kathleen, 2nd were Nora O’Driscoll and Theresa O’Keeffe. Well done ladies and well done to everyone who participat­ed. Catherine spoke on behalf of Kathleen and herself and said they were delighted to have won. She thanked the ladies for their support and the beautiful prizes and congratula­ted all the winners on the night. Both Catherine and Kathleen said they were delighted to be sponsoring and thanked everyone who participat­ed in the game and said they will continue supporting the ladies in the future. Thanks to everyone who gave a helping hand on the night, its truly appreciate­d.

ALL-IRELAND MATCHPLAY

Last week we had a number of players who qualified for the National Matchplay in St Bridgets on the June Bank Holiday. These games were on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening. We had a good few players that qualified. They were John Cahill, Daithi Sexton and Decky Freeman and the ladies were Ailish Sexton and Sarah Byrne. We wish them all the best. Thanks to Lakewood for the top notch course.

UPCOMING EVENTS

On Thursday, 18th May a club singles 18 hole strokeplay competitio­n will take place at 7pm (shotgun start). €3 to play. This weekend a club singles competitio­n will take place. 18 hole strokeplay. €5 to play. Draw times: Friday 19th - 2.30pm, Saturday 20th - 12 noon, Sunday 21st - 10am. Can all members please support.

The club scratch and handicap matchplays are ongoing at the moment. Can all players please play their games by the requested dates given on the notice board.

A club fourball will take place on Friday, 19th May at 7pm. Keep an eye on the noticeboar­d for upcoming events

FOURBALL RESULTS

On Friday, 12th May we had a 4-ball with a good turnout. Result are overall JJ Quirke and Kathleen Lee, 2nd Olive Dolan and Ann Daly. We would like to say well done to JJ Quirke and JJ O’Connor who won the first best 18 prize in the non-mixed foursomes in Bruff, Co Limerick over the weekend.

HELP NEEDED

Also there is a rota for swishing the greens at the weekends. This is so important to keep the greens in excellent condition. Can all members please help with the rota.
