Four seasons struggle

'A wet and windy May fills the barn with corn and hay'. Cahir Park golfers were not deterred as all four seasons presented again this week. Practice rounds, competitiv­e matches, club competitio­ns and social golf all went ahead with thanks to the course team who keep the grass, greens, and bunkers in top class order.

LADIES RESULTS

Saturday/Sunday 6th/7th May - 18 Hole Stroke Medal Competitio­n was won by Miriam Halley playing off 18 with score of 81 shots nett. 35pts became the score of the week. On Thursday 11th May, the 18 Hole Stableford competitio­n was won by Anne Fitzgerald (26) with 35 pts on countback pipping Patricia Browne (20) on the back nine. Rosemary Maher (30) continued the trend winning the Saturday/Sunday, 13th/14th May 18 hole stableford, again with 35pts. Excellent scores ladies and congratula­tions to all.

Tuesday senior ladies battled very unpleasant weather conditions during the 12 hole champagne scramble. The winning team of Mary Comerford, Betty Buttimer and Geraldine Cooney fought the rain, enjoyed the occasional sunny spells, and brought in a superb 70pts. Well done ladies.

REVIVE ACTIVE TEAM WIN

Congratula­tions to the Cahir Park ladies and team managers Chris Noonan and Mary Lyons on their success over Waterford Castle ladies on Saturday in the first round of Revive Active Competitio­n. The Cahir panel, Michelle and Emma Keating, Julie Connolly and Caroline Maher, Miriam Halley and Kathleen Lonergan, Caitlin Fitzgerald and Joanne Quaid, Susie Burke and Deirdre O'Neill played wonderful golf in beautiful sunshine. Best wishes for next round.

The latest draw took place on Sunday, 14th May. The envelope drawn was for Jackie Walsh and his chosen number was ‘1’ and not a winner. Jackie wins €20. The next draw will take place on Saturday, 20th May. The jackpot is €940.

CLUB FUNDRAISIN­G CLASSIC

Our club classic in aid of course developmen­t will take place Friday 26th, Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th May. A prize fund €3,000. Teams of 3 People: All Women’s-Mixed-All Men Champagne Scramble and Play your own Ball on par 3s Maximum H'Caps: Women-36 Index-Men 24 Index. Cost - each team €165 to include a main course meal.

Timesheet - Friday: Seniors 10am, others 2pm (shotgun start). Saturday: Normal timesheet all day. Sunday: Shotgun start 9am and 2pm all times booked through the pro-shop or office 052-7441474.
