Course development
Last weekend was a significant occasion for Doneraile Golf Club as we opened the final stage of our course development. All the new tee boxes are now in play. The development works over the past few months have now brought our course to a new level.
We thank members and visitors for their patience while this work was going on. Great credit to contractor Darren Cotter for his great work. Also to Seamus, John and Pius for the long hours they worked in all kinds of weather to finish this job. Sincere thanks to the volunteers who continuously help out for the betterment of our Club.

PLAY IN PINK WEDNESDAY, 24TH MAY
Doneraile Golf Club are delighted to host our annual Play in Pink day for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute on Wednesday 24th May. 18 hole 3-ball champagne scramble. We will have various team prizes on the day including gross, longest drive and nearest the pin. We will also hold a fantastic raffle with all money raised going towards breast cancer research.

Doneraile Golf Club will hold our fundraising golf classic from Friday, 30th June to Sunday, 2nd July. Further details in next week’s issue.
CLUB FUNDRAISING RAFFLE
A club fundraising raffle has been organised in conjunction with the golf classic. Amazing prizes up for grabs including a TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver, €200 voucher for Select Hotels group, Dairygold vouchers, hampers, etc. Tickets are €5 each or 3 tickets for €10. Tickets are available to purchase in the clubhouse or from Michael Forde, Treasurer, 087-2205803 or Captain Jimmy Power 087-2401481. The raffle is a crucial part of our fundraising activities.
Raffle ticket sales will allow everyone and anyone with an interest in our club to make a donation to its finances and in the draw for some valuable prizes. The raffle will be held on the night of Captain Jimmy Power’s Captain’s Prize on Sunday, 6th August. Your support of our great club would be very much appreciated.

INTERCLUB RESULTS JB CARR
Commiserations to our JB Carr team who were defeated by a very strong Charleville side. Our thanks to all the panel and team managers president Denny Cole and Frank Carey. Thanks to the supporters who travelled on the day. We wish our neighbours Charleville every success in the next round of the competition.
LADIES JUNIOR FOURSOMES
Unfortunately, our junior foursomes team had to give a walkover to Tralee. We wish Tralee Golf Club the very best of luck in the next round.
LADIES REVIVE ACTIVE
Our Ladies Revive Active team travelled to Berehaven Golf Club last weekend for the first round of this competition. After a hard fought match with great golf played by both teams, we were defeated on the 18th. Hard luck ladies. Thanks to all the panel and team managers for all your efforts. Best of luck to Berehaven in the next round.
INTERCLUB FIXTURES
Our mixed foursomes face Killarney Golf Club in the third round of the mixed foursomes competition. We are very fortunate to receive a home venue and the match will be played in Doneraile Golf Club on Saturday, 20th May at 2pm. We would like to wish all the panel and team managers Sean Collins and Tom Meade the very best of luck. Members’ support for our team would be greatly appreciated.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
On Monday, 8th May, Doneraile Golf Club hosted a skills event for over 70 athletes. Great credit to Michael Forde and the Special Olympics Committee for organising the day. Thanks to all the athletes, parents and volunteers who helped in any way. This was a wonderful initiative. All the athletes had a wonderful day. Thanks to Mary, Mike and the Roche Family for their hospitality and beautiful food.
HOLE IN ONE
Well done to our junior member, Anna O’Brien who had a hole in one recently. Anna hit a 7 iron into the 4th hole during the ladies reverse waltz competition on last Friday. The excitement was something else. Well done Anna.
