Rathcormac Community Council meeting

-

The RCC meeting for April 2023 took place on Monday 24/04 at 8pm in the Old School. Bob Seward chairperson welcomed a big crowd to the meeting, which included some new members following our recent election. Bob welcomed the new and old members and and proceeded with the Agenda.

Conor Gurrin read the minutes of the March meeting and these were agreed and signed.

Jonathon gave the Financial report, which showed us in good shape due to many of our fund-raising events being back on track. He thanked all who contributed to our recent fund-raising, which was a great success.

TEXT ALERT SYSTEM

There is some disquiet about the way this is now run. We are to invite a member of the Gardai who is involved to our next meeting to tidy this up.

THE MEN’S SHED

The Men’s Shed need to get a facility like a portocabin and need a site in the Field if possible. It was agreed to sort this with the members.

THE COMMUNITY FIELD AND SPORTS HUB

The time for tree planting is now gone so we will leave this to the fall. The provision or suitable bench seating in the family and footpath areas is also being worked on at present. We probably need 6 picnic type benches and 8 other benches for around the paths. The lighting is also being worked on and we may now go for solar type lights. Sand and fertiliser are needed for the pitch area. Conor is looking after this.

HALL WORKS

The parking of people in the Hall yard while not using the hall came up for some debate. This causes problems for hall users at some times especially in the evenings.

CARDS ON TUESDAYS

The cards have now been back since February 2022. We are continuing each Tuesday at 8.15pm in the hall and are gradually welcoming more of our old friends back as the weeks pass. We are now back up to 60% of our old crowd each Tuesday night with 11 to 14 tables and it is great to see people returning. Thanks to you all for that.

SENIORS ALARM SYSTEMS

The new terms and conditions for the running of this very valuable service to our senior citizens were agreed and approved by the RCC as required by Pobal.

A.G.M

This took place prior to the Monthly meeting. The chairman, secretary and treasurer gave detailed reports of our progress over the last year and these reports will be reported shortly. Bob continues in the chair. Aleu Grgic fills the vice-chair. Jonathon continues as treasurer assisted by Richie. Conor has finished his several years as secretary. This will be vacant until the next meeting but Catherine will fall in as assistant secretary. Frank continues as PRO. Richie will also continue to cover Fas/ Tus. Conor will fill a new role as Grants officer. Full report of all this later.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

We deplore the recent theft of some fencing panels at the new school bounds. These have now been replaced.

NEXT MEETING

This will be in the Old School on 3rd Monday in May at 8.30pm.
