Gearing up for D’Hillbillies Barn Dance

-

Preparations are well and truly under way for D’Hillbillies Barn Dance taking place on June 10th, at Gortnahown Farm. Curraghagalla Community Group and Partners in Learning (PIL) are delighted to be organising this event which is sure to be a toe-tapping night for all. Doors open at 8pm and a free shuttle bus will be running from 9pm till late from Mitchelstown Square to the event and back.

The Champion’s League final between Manchester City and Inter will be shown on a big screen. Patrons are in for a fantastic night with the night’s first entertainer, the brilliant Harper Feerick kicking things off at 8.30pm.

Back from touring Ireland and the UK, The Fógues will then take to the stage and are sure to provide plenty of craic agus ceol. Having only just began their summer gig series, the Fógues have an impressive repertoire of songs ready which will have the barn absolutely hopping and will no doubt bring out some serious dance moves. DJ Doc Martin will follow up then to continue pumping out the tunes. Limited seating will be available for those who want to take a break from the dancing or to just simply chill and soak up the atmosphere.

Local volunteers are working hard not only to create the stage, but are also designing and building a fully licenced bar for the night and are making space for catering crew, Advanced Catering, who will have lots of delicious options available to purchase on the night.

There will be a few lucky winners on the night too. The first 300 hundred people to arrive at the Barn on the night will be entered into a draw for half a tonne of coal and there will also be a prize for best dressed, so start planning those outfits!

For anyone who would like to start the evening earlier, Market Place Mitchelstown are offering a great Barn Dance Special at their restaurant. Any 2 courses of the following: BBQ Ribs or Chilli Bean Taco, Smoked Texan Beef Brisket or Mac and Cheese, Mississippi Mud Pie plus a glass of house wine or beer for only €30. A brilliant offer which is sure to get people in the mood for the barn dance!

Tickets for D’Hillbillies Barn Dance are €20 each and are available to buy online through Event Master or are available to buy locally in The Favourite, Dave Conroy’s, Murphy’s Pharmacy and Reidy’s Greengrocer in Mitchelstown, Every Blooming Thing in Fermoy and Flynn’s Shop in Glanworth.

All welcome but please note this is an over 18s event. Looking forward to seeing you all there, so dust off those cowboy boots and grab that hat!
