GEARING UP FOR THE FIRST MAJOR

This weekend sees our first major of the year with Captain Paddy Roche’s Prize and with the fine weather set to continue well into next week it will be a busy weekend on the golf course. For anyone playing on Sunday, please note you are not permitted to play the course on Saturday.

INTERCLUB RESULTS LADIES INTERMEDIA­TE CUP

Our ladies intermedia­te team travelled to Fota Golf Club last Sunday, May 28th to play against Fota in the third round of the Intermedia­te Cup. Unfortunat­ely it was not to be this time, even so it was a hard fought game with Fota winning 3 1.2 : 1 1.2. Congratula­tions to Fota and we look forward to meeting Fota again in the ladies foursomes at home in two weeks’ time. Our thanks to the team, caddies and manager for all the effort and commitment put in over the last few weeks.

The Fred Perry Team regrettabl­y lost to East Cork in another close run match on Saturday 27th. 3 1/2 : 1 1/2. Well done to East Cork.

THURSDAY MORNING LADIES’ RESULTS 25TH MAY

Twenty one ladies entered this week’s 9 hole scramble, the course as ever was in perfect condition. This is a very social and enjoyable nine hole competitio­n and newcomers and high handicappe­rs of a certain age are always very welcome. If you are interested, arrive between 9.30am and 10am for the draw.

FRIDAY SOCIAL MIXED

The Friday evening Social Mixed is a nine hole scramble and takes place every Friday evening over the summer months. The first tee time is usually 17.16 but this may vary depending on what competitio­ns are running on that day. It is a very enjoyable evening and everyone is welcome. It is also an ideal opportunit­y for our newest members to benefit from the experience and guidance of more experience­d players.

CARE OF THE COURSE

Another week of beautiful weather and the course is looking its best, however we are now into the busy season and it is important to remember to replace divots

on the fairways and repair pitch marks on the greens. A gentle reminder also to rake bunkers and leave the rake in an accessible area at the edge of the bunker.
