Fé12 footballers get the better of Kildorrery
We travelled to Kildorrery on Monday evening last to play the locals in round 5 of the Rebel Óg North League. In the previous round against Castlelyons we had come out on the right side of a 7-18 to 8-10 score, so hopes were high we could continue our momentum.
We started with great forward play and top class defending, leading at half-time 2-8 to 0-5. The lads continued to combine well in the second half and on a glorious sunny evening we finished well to secure the points.
We finished the campaign on 8 points from 5 games, level on top with Mitchelstown and we look forward to the issuing of gradings for the summer league over the next few weeks.
We lined out as follows: Mikey Hurley, Caleb Clancy, Sean Bonner, Paul Og Philpott, Jack Condon, Bobby Kiernan, Micheal Quirke, Darragh Lynch, Fionnan Looney, Charlie O’Brien, Ronan O’Driscoll, Cullan Russell, Tadgh Aherne, Darragh Crowley, Jason Dunleavy, Rian Turzi, Finn Murray, Cian Condon, Dylan Mee, Cian Dillon, JJ Cahill (injured).
FÉ11S IN ACTION AGAINST FERMOY
The Kilworth Araglen Og U11 team travelled the short distance to Fermoy for a football Go Game on Saturday morning, May 27th. A great contest between two very good sides under very hot conditions. Well done to our footballers who are showing great progress.
BALLYDUFF TOURNAMENT
On Friday evening last our U10 hurlers took part in the group stages of the Ballyduff hurling tournament. The event was again excellently run by the home club.
Our group included St. Olivers, Castlelyons and Cappoquin and all three games were competitive affairs. Our lads are improving all the time with the work being carried out in training definitely transferring to the match day performances. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to qualify for this weekend’s finals, but the experience gained will stand to these boys going forward.
The weekend past also saw the U10s and U9s join up for an in-house game which included some excellent passages of play from both groups. Afterwards, as much energy was used again in the water-fight, with the coaches certainly coming off second best in this one!
ST. COLMAN'S ARE CORK COLLEGES FÉ14 CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to St Colman's who had wins over Coláste Choilm in last Wednesday's semi-final and Midleton CBS in Friday's final to win this year’s Fé14 Cork Colleges Hurling Championship. We had a strong representation with 5 panel members from Kilworth including Darragh Collins, Conor Lynch, Sean Riordan, Evan Gowen and Killian Ball. Well done lads.
U14 CHAMPIONSHIP
The under 14s will be the first group in championship action this year when they take on Beara in Ballinora on Friday evening at 7pm in the Premier 2 Football first round. It’ll be a quick turnaround thereafter as they change codes to hurling for the first round against St. Marks on Friday 9th. All support would be gratefully appreciated for these boys.
CONGRATS TO THE U14 CAMOGIE SIDE
Congratulations to the U14 camogie girls who had a fantastic win over Blarney in the A Grade League quarter-final last week. They were out again shortly after against Ballinhassig in the semi-final, so hopefully the result went their way again.
FIXTURES
Friday, June 2nd Premier 2 Fé14 football championship v Beara in Ballinora at 19:00.
BEST OF LUCK IN EXAMS
Best of luck to all the boys and girls who will start their Junior and Leaving Cert exams over the next week or so.
