U14 GIRLS MAKE IT A DOUBLE!

-

It was our U14 boys who became North Cork Football champions last week and this week the girls did our club proud. Congratulation to the girls on winning the North Cork D2 final v Mourneabbey on Wednesday last, 24th May in Mourneabbey.

A hugely sporting game played out in glorious sunshine with great support from both sides.

Kildorrery started the stronger side putting two points on the board before Mourneabbey responded. Half time score was Kildorrery 1-4 to Mourneabbey 0-2, the second half ebbed and flowed with scores exchanged by both sides. Kildorrery pulled away in the last fifteen minutes with decisive goals sealing the win for Kildorrery. Full time score Kildorrery 4-7 to Mourneabbey 1-5. Well done to all the players, coaches, mentors involved.

Our Junior ladies had a very impressive football win over Castlemagnier last Wednesday night in Kildorrery. This takes them into the North Cork Football final against Mitchelstown, date of final to be confirmed. Our U16 juvenile football team suffered a marginal defeat in the North Cork D3 final on Sunday morning at home against St Dominics. Despite a great team performance and also relying on a numbers of players from the U14 panel, the boys worked very hard and gave a fantastic account of themselves.

We had a very busy Saturday last with our younger juvenile boys’ and girls’ teams out in force at blitzes both at home and in Ballyhooly. Well done to all for participating. Our U12 camogie girls had a fantastic league win over Nemo Rangers in Cork last Saturday. Well done girls.

INTERMEDIATES PLAY VALLEY ROVERS

Kildorrery played a well fancied Valley Rovers team at the local venue last Sunday. This was a highly competitive enjoyable contest. Both teams were level after 6 minutes with 2 points apiece. John O'Connor goaled after 10 minutes with James Keating and David Hunter pointing shortly afterwards.

Valley Rovers dominated the remaining 15 minutes of the first half scoring 1-07 to Kildorrery’s 3 points and leaving the half time score 1-10 to 1-05 for Valley Rovers.

Kildorrery switched James Keating to midfield for the second half and along with Peter O'Brien they inspired a terrific second half performance for the local team. Kildorrery also benefitted from the introduction of several substitutions to add fresh legs in the last quarter of the match. The final score of a very enjoyable match went to Valley Rovers 2-21 to Kildorrery 2-18.

As with previous weeks, Kildorrery were missing some players but it's good to see more players getting opportunities to start or to come on during the game. Denis Motherway referred the game very well.
