OFFICIAL OPENING OF NEW TEE BOXES

-

Another great club day was held last Sunday when we had the official opening of the new tee boxes. This was a momentous day for Doneraile Golf Club as this was a major development for our club.

Sincere thanks to everyone who worked so hard and contributed to bring this project to fruition. We would like to extend our gratitude to members for their support and patience during the development works. Great credit to our greenkeeping team Seamus Moriarty, John Glassett, course manager Pius O'Callaghan who put in long hours in all kinds of weather.

The official opening of our new tee boxes was marked by our officers driving off. The officers shot long drives down the first fairway to the cheers of fellow golfers, family and friends. A 9-hole fun scramble followed with all funds raised donated to the medical fund for Damien Horgan. A social evening was held in the clubhouse and beautiful tasty finger food was served. A presentation was made to the victorious Home Nations team, team managers, Anna Cotter and Liam Carleton, Junior Convenor, Michael Quirke.

Thanks to everyone who came along and to the Roche family for the lovely finger food and their hospitality.

The winners of the scramble were lady captain Karena Hunter, captain Jimmy Power, Junior Girls’ captain Caoimhe O'Shaughnessy and Junior Boys’ captain Jack Roche.

PLAY IN PINK

Doneraile Golf Club hosted a Play in Pink day last Wednesday in aid of breast cancer research.

Blessed with a beautiful sunny day, nothing could dampen the positive atmosphere, enthusiasm and good will shared by all the golfers. There was a huge turnout of support from members and visitors and a sea of pink descended upon the course for the day. While participants didn't have to dress in pink most got behind the spirit of the event by donning some pink attire. Special thanks to our Lady Captain Karena Hunter and the Ladies’ Committee for the huge amount of work they put into organising the event. Thanks to all our generous members and visitors who supported the competition and purchased raffle tickets.
