Cluain Dara Day Care Centre, Fermoy - OPEN DAY
Cluain Dara Day Care Centre is planning to host an open day on Friday 17/11/23 to showcase the service that is available locally to support our older adults live out their lives in the comfort of their own homes with the support of what the day care centre has to offer.
The centre is owned by Fermoy Geriatric Association (FGA) and is funded and managed through a service level agreement between the HSE/ CKCH and FGA. The day care centre operates Monday to Thursday. It is a nurse lead service supported by multi-task attendants employed by the HSE and staff employed by FGA. Referrals to the centre are screened based on a nursing assessment and admission to the centre accommodates a person-centred approach.
Services provided include nursing care, showering and personal care and hairdressing. A warm nutritious meal is served daily focusing on specific dietary requirements. Attendance to the centre costs twelve euro which includes the cost of transport, dinner and the day room activity.
The centre catchment areas include; Fermoy, Rathcormac, Castlelyons, Watergrasshill, Kilworth, Araglin, Glanworth and Ballyhooly. We support attendance to the centre by providing transport using the centre bus / car. The transport service is staffed completely by local voluntary retired people for whom the day care service is indebted to.
We aim to support the physical and psychological wellbeing of our attendees by providing activities such as daily chair exercises, art and craft, music and song provided by retired ladies group and the men’s club, quiz and conversation, bingo and cards.
