International Women's Day marked in Mitchelstown school
On Friday, 8th March, Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown celebrated International Women's Day by inviting three past students to speak to our 5th, 6th and LCA students.
These three inspirational women have gone on to achieve amazing success in their lives and have come back to Mitchelstown to live and work.
Ciara O'Brien: After leaving Presentation Secondary School,
Ciara went on to study Applied Languages at UL and then trained as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in London. For the past 20 years she’s worked with multinationals like PepsiCo, Unilever and Google in Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Operations. She recently left corporate life to return to Mitchelstown and setup Barnahown Guesthouse, which will open in July this year. She’s very passionate about the tourism and hospitality potential of our area and keen to invest in the next generation of female leaders coming from Mitchelstown.
Kate O'Callaghan: Kate graduated from Pres in 2012. She went on to study hotel management with commerce at Shannon College of Hotel Management. She spent time in France and the UK working in ultra luxury hotels before moving home in March 2020 to run her family business, O’Callaghan’s Cafe and Delicatessen. Kate is passionate about all things hospitality, especially promoting the industry as a rewarding and exciting career with many opportunities.
Lisa Molan: A 2002 Presentation Secondary School alum, Lisa went on to study Food Business in UCC and Marketing in UCD. Since then, she’s gained both start up and mul
ti-national experience in sales and maketing. Lisa’s passions are for continuous learning, the application of technology and leading diverse teams.
Our students were so impressed and inspired by the talk given, they said that it made them realise that there is so much oppor
tunity waiting for them if they work hard and continue learning; the Leaving Cert is only the start of a new exciting chapter. They said that they will remember the words of wisdom and encouragement as they prepare themselves for the next stage in their lives.
We in Presentation are so very proud of all our students, both past and present, we believe that our school prepares them to become strong, independent and successful women. We welcome any past students that would like to come and speak to our students or even have a trip down memory lane!
