Busy weekend at Fermoy Golf Club
A mixed bag of weather for the bank holiday weekend at Fermoy Golf Club. Warm, cold, wet and dry. Sunday by far the best day as Saturday’s rain gave way to a dry bright St Patrick’s Day. Monday was overcast but remained mostly dry for the full scramble. The ground is still wet and slippery in places so while we wait for the March winds to kick in, it is advisable to keep to the pathways as much as possible.
The Thursday morning ladies scramble was cancelled last week due to the rain but we remain optimistic for the coming week. Because of the bank holiday the alternative days for the ladies competition was Tuesday 19th and Wednesday, 20th March, the alternative for the 9 hole competition was also Wednesday 20th.
The ladies section is still busily preparing teams and managers for the upcoming interclub competitions. There is still time to sign up if you are interested. For the full list of interclub competition that the ladies committee have entered this year, please see the notice board in the ladies locker room.
The ladies Get into Golf programme 2024 is starting on Monday, 20th April. For further details, contact Áine, 0872154656 or Eileen 087-1222501.

CONDOLENCES
The ladies section extend their deepest condolences to Audrey Cremen (committee of management) on the passing of her sister Pat Haiselden, nee Doyle, Somerset and late of O’Rahilly Row, Fermoy.
We have had a very well attended Juvenile Golf programme over the winter months. Paul Kiely from Golf Ireland has been giving classes on a regular basis since August ‘23. We have 4 groups ranging in ability from beginners to single handicappers. We were very fortunate to be able to avail of Corrin Hill Driving Range during the last few months. Thank you Gerry O’Riordan for hosting us.
Competition time is almost upon us, so practice sessions are being organised over Easter for our Fred Daly and foursomes teams. We are also looking into having a Juvenile morning over the Easter break, further information will be made available to Juvenile members on the WhatsApp group. We would also like to remind members to make sure they have paid their membership for the year.
Do you have a child or teenager who has an interest in golf? Consider joining our Juvenile club! For further information please don’t hesitate to contact the office at Fermoy Golf Club on 025-31472, or email us at info@fermoygolfclub.ie.
