Palace Theatre hosts 'Jesus From Nazareth'
Talented all rounder, Girish Paul, brought his latest production, ' Jesus From Nazareth' to The Palace Theatre, Fermoy last Saturday night. An acclaimed composer and concert musician, he's also responsible for the successful musicals, 'Victoria Frankenstein' and 'Gandhi'.
HISTORICAL AND RELIGIOUS
Set 2,000 years ago, when the Roman Empire held sway across most of Europe and the Middle East, 'Jesus From Nazareth' portrays the life of Christ from Bethlehem to Calvary. Even for those who are not religious, Girish Paul's production gives a fascinating insight into the life of a man, who had a profound impact on the world.
Anthony O'Connell is the 'charismatic miracle worker', whose preceived threat to Roman rule, was enough to have him executed. Kilworth based actor, Liam Howard, is Rome's hard man governor, Pontius Pilate, who reluctantly passes the death sentence. Liam's good friend, Sean Ahern, produces yet another masterful performance as John The Baptist. The O'Connell family are very well represented by Faustina (Emily), Mary (Mary Magdalene) and Gerard (The Centurion). There are also significant roles for Christine Murphy (Mother Superior) and Niamh Murphy (Herodias). Veteran performer, John Brett, from Millstreet, is cast as the high priest, Caiaphas.
EVOCATIVE MUSIC
Girish Paul's original score, complements perfectly the film's visual effectiveness. The end result is a forceful and often moving cinematic experience.
Girish is grateful to his hardworking cast, executive producer, Carmel Barrett, Church authorities who made venues available for the various scenes and the public for supporting last Saturday night's show.
