Game goes ahead following visit from Storm Kathleen
On Saturday evening, both players and supporters braved the tail end of the storm and headed for Charleville to take on the home side in the Division 1 Hurling League.
Charleville got the scoreboard underway with a very quick opening score. Without delay, Shane Looney found the back of the net followed in quick succession with points from Darragh, Jamie and another from Darragh. Conditions were poor throughout with a strong wind playing havoc. The half time scoreline saw us a goal ahead of the opposition.
Once again Charleville got the second half scoreline underway and it took us until the 8th minute to answer back with a well pointed free from Jamie. In the latter quarter, Charleville seemed to settled and they gained momentum, outscoring us 1-09 to 0-5 and finishing on a 1-14 to 1-10 scoreline.
We have a few young players introduced into the team this year and it is good to see them getting stuck in, every game will allow them to gain experience.
Team and scorers: Stevie Donegan, Eoin O’Regan, Eoin McHugh, Billy O’Grady, Cory Buckley, Barry Sheedy, Jerome Fitzgerald, Darragh Palmer, Jamie Sheedy, Shane Looney, Colman O’Reilly, Jack Twomey, Haulie Burke, Dean Carey, Michael Hanley Casey. Subs used: Alan Sheedy, Shaun Cronin, Paul Burke.
