Football game on Sunday

-

With our schedule of matches disrupted due to the weather, we're hoping to get things back on track at the weekend, when we travel to Mallow on Sunday afternoon to take on their second team in the Cavanagh's of Fermoy Division 2 League. With the junior B football county championship looming, it's vital that James Kearney (Propogue) and his selectors get to see their charges in action.

LOTTO RESULTS FROM 4TH APRIL

Numbers drawn: 03, 07, 10 and 29. No winner. Lucky dips to: €50 Mark O'Keeffe, Araglin; €50 Tony & Colette White, Araglin; €25 Mike Hoye, Araglin and €25 Maria Ryan, Araglin (online entry). Next draw for a jackpot of €16,600 in Christy's on Thursday night, 11th April.

IMPORTANT FUNDRAISER

Araglin GAA is fully supporting next Saturday night's table quiz in Christy's - this is a fundraiser for local girl, Alison O'Grady. We are appealing to officers, executive members, players and supporters to turn out in force. Alison and her parents, Sean and Michelle have been through a lot and this is the community's way of showing solidarity with them.

If you can bring along a spot prize for the raffle so much the better. Things will kick off in Christy's at 9pm sharp. Support appreciated.

CLUB MEETING LAST MONDAY NIGHT

We held a club meeting last Monday night. Items on the agenda included: fixtures, finance, match tickets for Cork v Waterford, Rebels' Bounty review, ongoing infrastructural work and schools' coaching.

At the meeting, former player and club first aider, Brendan Carey, from Ballard, was wished well. Hopefully, Brendan will be back on track before too long. Brendan fell ill while attending the recent tractor/truck run in Kilworth; he was fortunate to have received prompt medical treatment, so well done to all concerned.

CORK V WATERFORD

The Munster Senior Hurling championship is almost upon us with the Rebels facing the Deise in Walsh Park on Sunday, 21st April at 4pm. As has been the case in recent times, this championship is ultra competitive and patrons can expect more of the same when these old rivals cross camans at the Waterford venue.

WELL DONE KILLIAN

Well done to Killian Watts on being selected for the Bank of Ireland Celtic Challenge squad. Killian is a talented hurler who is continuing to improve and it's good news for the club that he's playing at such a high standard. It also reflects well on the success of the Araglin Kilworth amalgamation at underage level.

SUCCESSFUL BINGO

There was another fine crowd at last Sunday's bingo in Araglin - this event is an important fundraiser for the hall. The next bingo is Sunday, 21st April, all welcome.

ARAGLIN PEOPLE ASSIST WITH SEARCH

Solidarity within the parish was also displayed in the way Araglin people turned out in significant numbers to assist with the missing person’s search in Kilworth last weekend. The search, which was concentrated in Glenseksin Wood, had a successful outcome with the young girl found safe and sound.

FIXTURE

Cavanagh's of Fermoy Division 2 Football League, Sunday, 14th April, Araglin v Mallow in Mallow at 3pm.
