Officers remain the same for 2024

The AGM 2024 for Lismore Tidy Towns was held on Tuesday, 2nd April. Officers elected for the coming year remain the same as last year: chairperso­n, Sheila Roche; deputy chair Sean Daly, joint secretarie­s Sheila Roche and Mary O'Brien, treasurer Mary O'Brien, health and safety officers Liam Ahearne and Sean Daly, joint PRO'S Sheila Roche, Mary O'Brien and Mary Flynn and other sub committees made up of the officers.

Chairperso­n, Sheila Roche, thanked the Lismore community and the various organisati­ons within the town who support the ongoing work of Tidy Towns and see the benefits to Lismore of having this active working group in the town. Waterford City and Co. Co. through its engineer, Josephine McGrath, GSS John Foley and the Lismore outdoor staff are thanked for all of their work within the town and also their continued support of Lismore Tidy Towns. The CE team of Jim Noonan and Kieran Fraher were praised for all of their ongoing maintenanc­e work.

Those who volunteere­d to participat­e in the community litter roster were acknowledg­ed as were the Lismore Tidy Towns work team who come out to work a few times a week over the busy season. The editors and staff of The Dungarvan Leader, Dungarvan Observer and TheAvondhu were thanked for publishing the Lismore Tidy Towns notes when sent in. The treasurer thanked the court service for its donation of €1,000 which has to be spent on the planting of native trees - this will be done in the autumn. The Tomar Trust was also thanked for its donation towards the payment of the Biodiversi­ty Action Plan. Glavin and Ronan Accountant­s were thanked for their help during the year.

It was also decided at the meeting that the work team will get back to work on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm starting on Monday, 15th April weather permitting. The annual litter pick up on the approach roads will take place on Saturday, 20th April, meeting at the car park at 9.30am.
