Great performance from U18 footballers despite conditions

-

Despite the recent poor weather our U18 football game against Kilshannig went ahead last Wednesday evening. Both teams served up a very entertaining game of football with very little between the two sides.

With points coming from Lachlan, Luke, Cian (2) and Harrison (2) in the opening half we found ourselves down by two at half-time, Mitchelstown 0-6 Kilshannig 0-8.

We started the second half with two unanswered points, one each from Cian and Harrison to level matters before Jack Sheehy struck for the opening goal of the game, 1-8 to 0-8 with 10 minutes gone in the second half.

Kilshannig responded with two points before Jack Hanrahan got on the end of a lovely passage of play to finish to the back of the Kilshannig net for our second goal. Kilshannig pointed from a free and laid siege on our goal as time was running out.

Despite the best efforts of our defence which were very solid all night Kilshannig broke through to level matters 2-8 to 1-11. The boys kept their composure and worked the ball up the field and Jack Sheehy scored what proved to be the winning point.

Despite the best efforts from Kilshannig our boys defended in numbers and with great discipline for the four minutes of injury time to see out the game and a one point victory, Mitchelstown 2-9 Kilshannig 1-11.

U9 HURLERS UP AND RUNNING

Our U9s had their first Go Games last Saturday morning v Fermoy and Castlelyons in Fermoy. The sun shone and so did this super bunch of boys, all coming home with smiling faces, after playing 8 games in total. Well done boys, keep it up.
