The Avondhu

Annual sponsored walk

-

Our U13s started the first round of their North Cork League where they played a strong Knocknagree side. The girls never gave up, but unfortunately Knocknagree proved too strong for our girls. There was a great goal from Aoife O’Leary and Ailbhe Kane kicked 2 steady points from frees.

Team: Jorja Curran, Abbie Browne, Emma Casey, Emilie Farrell, Molly O’Farrell, Emily Burke, Clodagh Bradley, Sophia Wilson, Ciara Linehan, Saoirse Coleman, Ailbhe Kane (0-2), Lauren O’Connor, Saoirse Russell, Aoife O’Leary (1-01), Kate O’Farrell, Áine Bradley, Sarah Donoher, Maeve Casey and Julia Kucaba.

Special thanks to Shanballymore GAA for the use of the pitch.

U16

First home game of the year for Glanworth ladies U16s on Monday evening when we took on a strong St Peter’s side. We won the toss and took advantage of the wind for the first half.

It took us a while to find our shooting boots but when we got our first score from Orlaith O’Connell the girls really pushed on with goals from Emma, Niamh and 2 from Orlaith. The second half was mostly a rearguard effort but the girls worked really hard and some fantastic team work saw us run out winners on a scoreline of 4-05 to 1-06. It’s been a good start to the league for these girls and hopefully the momentum continues.

Team: Alisha Roche, Sophia Newelle, Dalicia Kisambu, Ava Nolan, Erica Hanrahan, Leah Burke, Sorcha Madden, Katie Linehan, Nessa Bradley, Ciara Moloney (C), Emma Gibson (1-1), Niamh O’Sullivan, Cameron McCann (0-2), Orlaith O’Connell (2-02), Niamh Walsh (1-0), Shona O’Farrell, Aoibhe Mackessy, Abigail O’Dwyer, Emilia Walsh, Ava Hanrahan O’Sullivan and Chloe O’Dwyer

SPONSORED WALK

Last Sunday we held our annual sponsored walk. We are blown away by the generosity that was shown to our players through their sponsorship cards. To all our walkers who turned up in force we applaud them. The weather was up and down but that didn’t stop our walkers. We also teamed up with Glanworth Tidy Towns with the An Taisce National Spring Clean Week, it was great to see such eagerness to clean up the village.

Special thanks to ID Sports for sponsoring 2 x 40th commemorative jerseys. Thanks to the following sponsors; Quick Fry, Walsh’s Pharmacy, Lidl, Shaws, Tesco and Amber. Most importantly, thanks to all who supported the walk and to everyone who helped to make it a safe and successful walk. Any cards left to return please pass them on at your next session/ match.
