A great weekend in Killarney

-

It was decided by the club to celebrate our 30th anniversary by spending a weekend in The Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. It proved to be a popular decision enjoyed by all. From the time the bus left Mitchelstown and got onto the motorway one could sense the excitement and anticipation by all.

Our first stop was Lakewood Pitch and Putt Club, Ovens, where we got the usual welcome and ‘cuppa’ before heading out onto the course for a fourball competition. After the game more refreshments were enjoyed to set us on our way for our destination, The Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. A weekend cherished by all, a great occasion, a happy group together enjoying each other’s company, relishing the beautiful food and drink on offer, dancing, singsongs, playing cards, swimming, relaxing,(and whatever you fancy) some even got to enjoy a Susan McCann Concert.

On Monday morning some of our group braved the elements to play a competition in Deerpark Pitch and Putt Club, Killarney. On Tuesday morning after a hearty breakfast we went to the nearby Gleneagle course for a threeball competition. After lunch it was back to the course again for a fourball competition. At 6pm our coach arrived to take us home.

We would like to thank all who helped to make the weekend the great success that it was, namely Christy Murphy, Nell Coughlan, John Hogan, Michael

Gowen, Seamus Fox, The Credit Union, Mitchelstown for their generous sponsorship, the management and staff of The Gleneagle Hotel, Tom Cavanagh for providing a comfortable coach, our coach drivers; Bill Lane who got us to Killarney safe and on time, and Joe Dingivan who collected us on time as arranged and got us back home safely.
