Glanworth, Cork - March 25, 2024 - Glanfest, the annual extravagan­za celebratin­g music, community spirit, and local talent, is back with a bang for its 2024 edition. Set against the picturesqu­e backdrop of Glanworth in Cork, Glanfest promises a May Bank Holiday weekend filled with fantastic music acts, engaging discussion­s, family-friendly activities, and much more.

This year's music line-up is sure to get toes tapping and hearts racing with performanc­es by some of Ireland's most beloved acts. Headlining the event are acclaimed artists such as Mundy, The Fógues, Riff Shop and Deuces Wild, promising an unforgetta­ble musical experience for attendees of all ages.

Mundy: Mundy has sold 12 million albums worldwide and this is a massive coup for Glanfest to get him this year. He is sure to bring the house down! Well, hopefully not literally!

Since 1996 Mundy has released 8 Albums showcasing his eclectic styles in music from Rock, Americana, Folk and Indie. Six of these albums have been in the Top Ten in Ireland including ‘ Raining Down Arrows’ which went straight in at number 1!

Mundy has enjoyed gold and multi platinum record sales in Ireland and also picked up Meteor awards for ‘ Best Male’ and ‘ Most Downloaded Song’ (for 2 years running) with Steve Earle’s ‘Galway Girl’. He recorded the song live with Sharon Shannon with no plan or agenda… and the rest as they say is History!

Mundy tours both solo and with his band and has played all over Ireland, U.K, Europe, Asia, Australia, USA and Canada

He has played support to many of his favourite acts like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, R.E.M, White Stripes, The Waterboys and the Pogues to name a few heavy weights. He is a must see!

Riff Shop: The Riff Shop are currently abroad on tour but also recently played for the Irish Rugby Team Post their 6 Nations success.

Dublin based Riff Shop combines SteveO (DJ), Aran Johnston (Drums/Percussion) & Sean O’Brien (Sax). What started as a spontaneou­s jam in one of Dublin’s most popular clubs, Riff Shop have grown to become one of the biggest acts in Ireland.

They are now embarking on growing their internatio­nal reputation. They are regulars in the Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, and 2024 is set to be the biggest year for Riff Shop with dates in Ibiza, Marbella, Portugal, London, & Nice.

They continue to evolve their truly unique and fresh sound, and you can expect some new releases from the band coming at this event.

Deuces Wild: Deuces Wild is one of the top profession­al wedding and party bands in Ireland. With four experience­d musicians and singers, the band ensures to please your crowd and play the music that creates unforgetta­ble memories anyone that sees them. Their latest song release of Amy Macdonalds’ this is the life is used to get audiences on their feet along with multiple other songs that these guys put their own spin on. They are electrifyi­ng and drawn a huge Munster crowd especially. High energy and up beat tunes guaranteed.

The Fogues: What to say about these guys? They are going from strength to strength. Selling out Cyprus Avenue, playing at Electric Picnic and Indiepende­nce. These guys are ‘One of the best known and most popular trad groups in Munster’. “The music is fabulous, but the harmonies are incredible!” - Neil Prendevill­e, Red FM.

It just so happens these lads were born and raised in the parish too!

The 3 Buachailli: This lively 3 piece from Mallow brings Folk, Pop, Country & Trad into the mix. Originatin­g from Mallow, this young band is lighting up local arenas and headline many local events. They have a bright future ahead so be sure to get into to see this lively band show you their skills!

Cornelius Patrick O’Sullivan Comedy Roadshow: A comedian, improviser, writer, podcaster and actor Cornelius has performed all over and has played at festivals the ilk of Edinburgh Fringe and Kilkenny Cat Laughs. Television credits that include Republic of Tele and RTÉ 2 Sketch show called ‘Sketch’.

Recently Cornelius has garnered attention for his GAA based sketch videos, raking up tens of thousands of views online, and supporting comedians like Chris Kent and the Rubberband­its.

A north Cork man also, you will be sure to hear a few local quips. This guy is ‘ gonna be huge’, (Louis Walsh of Boyzone and Westlife fame, 2022). Selling out the Everyman already in 2024, this guy is already flying and we are delighted to showcase his talents on stage as our first act on Sunday evening.

GRASSROOTS

But Glanfest isn't just about the music. As part of the festivitie­s, Glanfest will host a panel discussion ‘Grassroots’, featuring esteemed guests such as Liam Sheedy, former Tipperary hurling manager and Sunday Game pundit, Rena Buckley, Cork Ladies Football and Camogie legend, and Johnny Pilkington, All-Ireland winner with Offaly.

The discussion will delve into the importance of grassroots sports in local communitie­s and the impact it has on fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderi­e. No subject is off limits as last years guests Dónal Óg Cusack, John Mullane and Briege Corkery can attest to!

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

During the daytime events, attendees can immerse themselves in a plethora of activities that capture the essence of community life in Cork. The farmers market will showcase the finest local produce, crafts, and delicacies, while the family fun day will offer a wide range of entertainm­ent for all ages, including interactiv­e workshops, games, and attraction­s.

Pet lovers can also look forward to the highly anticipate­d dog show, where furry friends will compete for top honours in various categories.

Stephen Dunne, chairman of Glanfest, expressed his excitement about this year's event, saying, “Glanfest is a celebratio­n of everything that makes our community special - from our vibrant social scene to our rich sporting heritage and close-knit families. Glanfest 2024 will take place on the May Bank Holiday Weekend 2nd-5th May, Glanworth GAA grounds in Glanworth, Cork - located between Fermoy and Mitchelsto­wn, it is just 10 minutes from the Cork Dublin Motorway.
