The last call for champions in dairy from the Avondhu area to enter their nomination­s for the 2nd National Dairy awards is Saturday, May 11 and the event is looking for its next dairy champion. The awards celebrate the dairy farmers, the artisan producers, sector services and the dairy processors as an industry collective who help elevate the industry.

The 2nd National Dairy awards will take place in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise on the evening of June 13th, 2024. This will be a premier black tie, industry-wide awards ceremony highlighti­ng the best of the Irish dairy sector and free to attend for all primary producer finalists.

Whether you’re a farmer, farm manager, dairy advisor, dairy vet, dairy beef producer, or an innovator with a passion for animal health, biodiversi­ty, or tech, the National Dairy awards recognise your dedication, innovation and hard work. The event has over 21 categories rewarding farmers, farm networks, local producers, producers and leaders on a night that celebrates the cream of the crop.

Vicky Kelleher, dairy farm manager in Cork was the standout winner last year claiming the Overall National Dairy award while also scooping the Carbery Dairy Farm Manager. The other winners were Jack Kearney (Mullinahon­e Young Dairy Farmer of the year) and Michael Piggott (Boehringer Dairy Vet of the year).

Other notable winners on the night included Jason Hawkins who picked up the Agri Insider Dairy Leader of the year award for his contributi­on to the dairy industry over the last 25 years.
