TEACHING DEMONSTRATION

Fermoy Flower and Garden Club will host a teaching demonstration by Sandra Jackson (AOIFA) on Tuesday, 7th May next in Adair Hall at 8pm. Sandra, from our sister club Conna, is a well known AOIFA exhibitor, demonstrator, teacher and judge and has given beautiful demonstrations to our club over the past number of years.

As this is a teaching demonstration, Sandra will show how to make three arrangements from scratch which will be raffled at the end of the demonstration. This event is being partially funded by AOIFA, the national Association of Floral Artists to encourage members and friends to take up the art of flower arranging, participate in competitions and exhibitions and to encourage friendship through flowers, the motto of the association. The audience can look forward to a lovely, relaxing evening, with no participation required apart from enjoying Sandra showing the fundamentals of flower arranging.

The demonstration will hopefully encourage people to make their own arrangements at home or for friends and to participate in club competitions. We are grateful to AOIFA for their sponsorship of this event to which all, not just club members, are welcome. It also means we can reduce entry for visitors and non members to 5 €, payable at the door. Doors open at 7.30pm, refreshments will be served and the sales table will be open on the night. Members please note there are no competitions this month.

EVENING OUTING

This year the club committee are organising something a little different for our evening outing on Tuesday, 14th May. This outing, open to members only, consists of a trip to Ballyvolane House, where we will have lunch at 1.30 pm followed by a tour of the garden and the gin distillery. The cost of the trip is €50, which includes lunch, tours and a raffle. Please note a bus will not be provided for this trip, but lifts to Ballyvolane House can be arranged for those who need them.

Names and money will be taken at our 7th May meeting, with names of those needing lifts also taken at the meeting. Following this, arrangements will be made for lifts and pick up times. This promises to be a lovely afternoon for our members. Please ring chairperson Anne O’Mahony at 0877693102 for further information on this outing, or if you cannot make the teaching demonstration on 7th May.

We are eagerly looking forward to both these events and look forward to seeing a good crowd at both.
