Track funding initiative launch night

St Catherines Athletic Club held a grand launch night on Friday, 26th April for their track funding initiative, with a line-up of distinguis­hed guest speakers that left the audience inspired and motivated. The event took place at the Community Hall in Conna village and it was a night filled with enthusiasm and community support for the club's ambitious project.

Speakers for the evening included Shane Kearney, the funding project manager, who shared insights into the strategic planning and fundraisin­g efforts that have gone into making this initiative a reality. Shane’s passion and dedication to the project were evident in his speech, as he emphasised the importance of investing in the club's facilities for the benefit of the athletes and the community.

Frank Hayes and Steve Dunning, lead coaches of St Catherines AC, also took the stage to express their excitement about the new track facility and the opportunit­ies it will provide for the club's athletes to train and compete at a higher level. Their vision for the future of the club was inspiring, as they spoke about the potential for growth and success that the new track will bring.

Support within the wider community was expressed by Gerard O’Mahony, chair of Conna Community Council, who committed to supporting the project and the wider fundraisin­g initiative in his talk on the night.

The club was also honoured to welcome Councillor Frank O'Flynn, the Lord Mayor of Cork County, to the event where he showed his support for the club's initiative. His words of encouragem­ent and endorsemen­t of the project added a sense of official recognitio­n to the evening, highlighti­ng the significan­ce of the club's contributi­on to the local community.

James O'Connor TD also attended the launch night and commended St Catherines AC for their dedication to improving their facilities and nurturing athletic talent in the region. Deputy O'Connor emphasised the importance of sports in promoting health and wellbeing, and he pledged his support for the club's endeavours.

Overall, the track funding initiative launch night at St Catherine's AC was a resounding success, thanks to the passionate speakers and the overwhelmi­ng support from families and juvenile athletes within the club.
