Mitchelstown Tennis Club host Munster Tennis Junior kids event
Last Saturday the club hosted a Munster Tennis U9 orange ball event. It was fantastic to see our own juniors take part at club headquarters.
The standard of tennis on display was superb as was the sportsmanship. A great day of tennis was had by all. The coaching and matchplay practice our juniors participate in weekly was evident.
A special mention of thanks to club head coach Stephen McInerney, assisted by Jack and to our junior officers Aidan McNamara and Catherine Rea.
Tennis Ireland Junior Kids’ aim is to develop more players from grassroots with good fundamentals by creating coach education support and to develop smart competitors by having appropriate competition for all.
The TI Junior Kids programme provides a framework for: Competitions (appropriate competition for all); Coach education and support (frameworks & pathways with practical content). The objectives of the programme include: Getting children interested and excited about tennis from the start by creating a fun, player centred and effective learning environment. To increase the number of children playing competition by creating more appropriate competition for all. Develop good fundamentals through coach supports.
Well done to all involved in bringing this initiative to Mitchelstown and to our junior players.

ADULT COACHING
Adult coaching with head coach Stephen McInerney for all levels, beginner intermediate and advanced continues this week with all sessions full. Best of luck and welcome to all beginners.

ENJOY TENNIS PROGRAMME
This continues every Friday evening 6pm-7pm. It’s a programme for players with a disability to learn and enjoy playing tennis. All welcome.

Well done to Richard Griffin and James McNamara who played in the TI junior kids green ball tournament in Carrigaline last weekend. Best of luck to our members competing in East Cork Tour 100 in Lower Aghada this weekend.
