Glenville no match for impressive Buttevant

Buttevant, after this impressive win in the McCarthy Insurance Cork Div 7 FL tie, showed they will be serious championsh­ip contenders

later this year. On Sunday at home, they dominated from the start in their game against Glenville.

Early points by Billy O'Riordan, Paddy Behan, David Hanlon, Conor Hanlon and Mark Lenahan (2) had them 0-6 to 0-0 ahead after 12 minutes. They had their first goal on 15 minutes when Mark Lenahan and Conor Hanlon combined for the inrushing Lenahan to goal. Josh Cooke pointed for Glenville. David Hanlon replied with a long range free. Kevin Lenahan placed Conor Hanlon for a point. Shane O'Regan then pointed for the visitors.

Good play for Buttevant by

Donal Ryan led to a John O'Neill point. Further pressure yielded rapid points from Conor Hanlon and Jamie Whelan, before David Hanlon goaled after a 3-man attack, the score now 2-11 to 0-2. Glenville forced a penalty but Josh Cooke's effort was well saved by Denis O'Sullivan. Cooke had a few points for the East

Cork side.

Buttevant were never troubled however and in injury time, Mark Lenahan had two goals for the home side, while Ciaran O'Leary had a Glenville goal.

Over the hour, the Buttevant defence were very solid. Up front the O'Neill, Lenahan and Hanlon brothers were in devastatin­g form. Glenville fielded an understren­gth side.
