LAST WEEK
Last Friday night, 26th April saw our U17s v Oola at home in round 2. Overhead conditions were very poor which led to slippery underfoot conditions and plenty of slipping was evident from the outset. Gaels started strongly with Padraig Casey scoring our first point from play followed by Conor McNamara scoring another point. Scott Reidy scored a beautiful goal which put Gaels in front nicely. Oola came back in the 12th minute with a goal. Our boys played very well, with Maurice popping a point over. Oola put it up to us and scored a second goal in the 15th minute and they were leading us by 2 points at this stage. Our lads dug deep and the work rate was evident, Conor Mc scored one more point before half-time.
The second half started with Eoghan Fitzgerald scoring the first point, Robbie Ryan followed this with another point quickly afterwards, Sean Gallahue followed and Robbie scored a lovely goal in the 38th minute. A dirty shower at the start of the second half saw conditions on the field much more challenging but Sean O’Donnell came up from the backs and got another point for us. Jack Prendergast had a great save. Our backline were outstanding and Liam O’Donnell was outstanding in his position.
Our subs were brought on and what an impact they had. Michael Noonan scored a goal and Cormac Kearney scored 1-1. Gaels were ahead now and looked very much in control – further scores from Robbie and Tommy English brought a final scoreline of Galtee Gaels 4-11 to Oola 2-7. A very well deserved win by the home team. Congrat u l a t i o n lads.
