All systems go
There is plenty of action on all fronts as our juvenile teams in both hurling and football play catch-up with their fixture lists while weather permits.
On Wednesday last the Mitchelstown U10s played host to Ballycastle Gaels in O'Connell Park. Two matches were played on the night and it was a valuable run out for the squad who learned a lot from the experience. The U12 Footballers however, were unlucky to lose out to Grenagh, 0-10 to 3-03.
On Saturday morning the Ballygiblin U10 hurlers welcomed Cobh to O'Connell Park where the boys all got the opportunity to play two matches. The Ballygiblin U11s meanwhile produced some great displays of hurling against Erins Own.
U14 FOOTBALLERS OFF TO A FLYING CHAMPIONSHIP START
Mitchelstown U14 footballers started their championship campaign with a win versus a gallant Fermoy on their home ground on Friday evening, 26th April. First half points by Tony Murphy (2) Shane Warren, Darragh Condon, Brian Walsh and a goal by team captain John Connolly Murphy gave Mitchelstown a narrow lead at half-time, 1-05 to 1-04.
In the early part of the second half super sub MJ Keane went on a scoring spree with two goals and a point. Fermoy showed great character to close the gap to two points with a goal from a penalty and four points. Tony Murphy and Jason Holland finished off the scoring to give Mitchelstown a win by four points 3-09 to 2-08. Both teams are to be complimented for an exciting and fair game, playing excellent football. The entire Mitchelstown team and all subs contributed to this great win.
