Kinsale 0 Park Utd Seniors 3

Park Seniors made it 3 league wins in a row in the senior second division split league with a convincing 3-0 win over Kinsale at Madden Pk., Kinsale on Saturday afternoon last.

Park knew a win would put them top of the division 2 split league and now have 2 games remaining. Needing a win and a draw to finish top which would be a good ending to the season after a disappointing start to the original league format.

On Saturday last Park were in total control from start to finish and fully deserved the win. Kinsale had no answer to Park’s dominance, with Pierce Murphy and Leon Murphy totally dominating midfield. Our defence were in good form too, Dario Green and Luke O’Mahony in the middle won every battle and outside them Cameron Keane and Willie

O’Brien had total control. On the wings James Coughlan and Paddy Hanrahan worked hard as did Simon Bane, who supported Tommy Dalton in the lone striker’s role.

For all our dominance we were wasteful in front of goal but thankfully Simon Bane took his chance on 20 minutes with a good finish to fire Park 1 nil ahead. We had a scare on 38 minutes when Dario handled the ball during a Kinsale attack, the home side were screaming for a red card but Willie O’Brien was behind him so the referee issued a yellow instead, deeming Dario not to be the last man. We held onto that slender 1 nil lead at the break and it's fair to say Jake Spillane in Park’s goal had very little to do.

DOMINANT

The 2nd half saw Park totally dominate again and 15 minutes in midfielder Leon Murphy pounced on an opportunity and made it 2 nil to Park with a sublime finish. We battled hard, winning all the duels but our finishing was poor in front of goals. Aidan O’Shea and Padraig O’Flynn were brought on to freshen things up and the game was put to bed in the 85th minute when Park were awarded a penalty for a rash challenge. Tommy Dalton took the spot kick and made no mistake when finding the target and sealing a 3 nil win for Park.

With Buttevant at home now this Friday night and Temple Utd away in our last game we have a chance to finish the season on a high and top the group in section B of the split league.

Team: Spillane, Keane, O’Brien, MurphyGreen, O’Mahony, P Murphy, L Murphy, Coughlan, Hanrahan, Bane, Dalton. Subs used O’Shea and O’Flynn.

WELL DONE

A big well done to all our schoolboy and girls teams who had victories last weekend. There is still a good chance of some league titles and cup successes coming to Brigown Pk as the season nears an end.

7 UP Park Utd Senior Ladies 7 Boher Celtic 1

Our senior ladies team continued their good start to the season with a comfortable home win on Wednesday night last week against Boher Celtic. Having secured a creditable 2-all draw away in their first game, Park ran riot all over the pitch on Wednesday night last and dominated from first to final whistle. This group of players will be hard to beat and who knows, even though it's early days success could await them come the end of the season. Well done to all.
