Rathcormac Community Council monthly report

-

The RCC meeting for April 2024 took place on Monday 22/04 at 8.30pm in the Old School. Bob Seward chairperson welcomed everybody to the meeting and then proceeded with the busy agenda.

Catherine read the minutes of the February meeting as the March meeting had been deferred and these were agreed and signed.

MATTERS ARISING

The raised manhole at the school roundabout is still a problem. A remedial plan for flooding needs to be sorted. Grass cutting has begun.

Jonathon gave the Financial Report, which showed us in good shape. He thanked the cards and Car-Boot-Sale committees for continued income supports, which are so important to keep our funding on an even keel. The meeting wished Jon well in his continuing health battle. The problem of proper insurance was discussed.

ALLOTMENTS

The Season for Planting is now upon us. Thanks to Eamon for his help to the people there.

CAR-BOOT-SALE

Next sale is on Sunday, 19th May. The April sale was huge with up to 260 traders on show there.

FIELD DEVELOPMENTS

We are to meet Cork Co Council about the lighting in the field. We are to investigate the problem of connecting to the grid. A water connection also needs looking into ASAP. Tree Planting will probably be a long term plan as their positioning will effect other activities there. The bounds areas may be the best option.

DOG FOULING

This is becoming a problem in the field. People should be responsible in the exercise of their dogs there. They should note that kids play there so the field needs to be kept clean of dog fouling etc.

FOOTPATH TO MONDANIEL

A letter of request for support for this was considered. This was regarded as an important development and got the support of the meeting.

THE INNOVATION CENTRE

Work is ongoing on the planning of this and we hope to have developments in this area in the coming months. Bob has found a company who specialise on these type of developments and has made progress with them.

CARDS ON TUESDAYS

We are continuing each Tuesday at 8.15pm in the hall and are gradually welcoming more of our old friends back as the weeks pass. We are now back up to 60% of our old crowd each Tuesday night with 10 to 16 tables and it is great to see people returning.

CONDOLENCES

These were recorded to recently bereaved families in the district.

NEXT MEETING

This will be in the Old School on 20th May at 8.30pm.
