Informative evening with Fermoy First Responders
We held our afternoon social last Wed. Our guest speakers for the evening were the Community First Responders from Fermoy.
They informed us, that their aim is to reach a potentially life-threatening emergency in the first vital minutes, before the ambulance arrives. A talk and demonstration followed on what to do, if you came upon someone who had just had a stroke, heart attack, or was choking. This information could potentially save a life. Thank you First Responders, for a most informative evening and for all the valuable work ye do in the community. Members please note; that the "Go for life" exercise programme will continue at every afternoon social.
Our esteemed member, Molly Abernethy celebrated her 90th. Birthday last week. Peg Sheedy, our chairman wished Molly a very happy birthday and presented her with a token, to mark the occasion. Molly is very involved in all aspects of the club. She is living proof that age is only a number.
On Monday last over 30 of our members headed to Conna Community Social Hall. We got a warm welcome from the staff and the meal that followed was excellent, with loads of choices on offer. We then had 3 games of bingo, which everyone enjoyed.
Our members summer outing will take place on Wednesday, 3rd July to Portlaoise Among the places we will visit there, are Emo House and Gardens, Donaghmore Famine Workhouse Museum and an agricultural exhibition. Also some time for shopping. The evening meal will be in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel.

Terry Cleary and Mary Thorpe's team were joint winners in the last Curling competition held in Kilworth. Don't forget Curling in Fermoy next Tuesday at 10.30am.
