Coláiste Fionnchua on tour
Last week, a group of forty TY, 5th Year and LCA students from Coláiste Fionnchua, Mitchelstown set off for a 4-day trip to Madrid.
Blessed with beautiful weather, sunglasses and of course, sun cream, the group had a fabulous first day embarking on a walking tour where they got to experience the beautiful architecture and history of the city.
Day 2 gave students an opportunity to experience the numerous shopping streets of Madrid with the most notable of those being ‘Grand Via’ which boasts one of the largest Primark stores in the world. This proved to be a major hit with students and accompanying teachers alike!
After lunch, the group took a tour of the famous Bernabéu Stadium home to Real Madrid, the most successful club in Spanish football. A return to the palace courtyard followed before dinner and bowling finished off an eventful day in the city of ‘the bear and the strawberry tree’.
The excitement was palpable for the penultimate day of the trip as the group travelled to Parque Warner. A full day spent touring the parks attractions and making memories ensured that this tour would not be forgotten for years to come. The day was rounded off with a traditional Spanish tapas meal and a walk around the stunning Puerta del Sol square.
The final day on tour gave students an opportunity to pick up any last-minute souvenirs and sample the last of the Spanish cuisine before returning home that evening. A fantastic few days away for our students who would highly recommend visiting Madrid, with some already planning their return to the city in the future.
