Goalfest for seniors

-

Park Utd 8 Buttevant FC 1

At Brigown Pk on Friday night last, Park seniors chalked up their biggest winning margin of the season, defeating visitors Buttevant on an 8-1 scoreline. Striker Tommy Dalton was on fire, scoring 4, with Colin Stack chipping in with 2 and Pierce Murphy and Dave Dineen grabbing 1 each.

It was a case of men against boys with Park taking an early 3-0 lead. Buttevant pulled one back courtesy of an own goal with the unlucky Shane Cahill deflecting the ball into his own net.

Park got another one before half-time to make it 4 -1 at the interval. Stand in keeper Calum Burke didn't have much to do and dealt well with crosses and free kicks. Our defence were outstanding and we had to re-juggle the defence before half-time when Cameron Keane had to leave the field with concussion.

The second half was all about Park again and our superiority showed when we bagged 4 more goals without reply. Just one more game awaits us now away to Temple and all we need is a draw to secure top spot in the bottom section of the split league. With 4 wins in a row now we will try to make it five in a row and build momentum within the group for next season. At the time of writing no date was fixed yet for that last away game.

Team: Burke, Keane, Cahill, O'Brien, Murphy-Green, Hanrahan, Stack, l Murphy, P Murphy, Dalton, Bane. Subs used: Dineen, O'Flynn, O 'Shea, O'Connor.

PARK YOUTHS

Both youth teams are now finished for the season. Our division 1 team received a walkover last Sunday from Mayfield Utd in what was Park's last game. It was a struggle with 2 youth teams but we got there and hopefully now we can get some of those youths overage next year to come through to senior level next season.

After getting off to a good start in their first 2 games our senior ladies, who were somewhat understrength on Wednesday night last, succumbed to a heavy 7-2 defeat away to a slick Ballincollig team. Park will learn from this and can pick up some more points now with 2 home games in a row.

At the time of writing and on account of the bank holiday no results were to hand. Please check for results online.

WALKING FOOTBALL

Our walking footballers will take part in their second blitz next Wednesday, 15th May in Cork city. We wish them the very best of luck in that.
