Resounding victory in U18 league

-

Glenville 8-08 Kildorrery 3-08

Our U18s were out on Monday night in the league away to Kildorrery, a team we had not played with this group of players previously.

The home team had a great start, scoring 1-1 in the first two minutes, but we settled well with points from Jayden and Conor and goals from Ryan and Ciaran. After this we took control, Ryan scoring 2-2 followed by a point from David and an unstoppable shot from Darragh after a direct run put us in a fantastic position at half-time, 5-5 to 2-2 ahead.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with some really well taken goals and points adding to our total as we ran out winners on a scoreline of 8-8 to 3-8.

Kildorrery scored some really nice points in the second half and had our defence stretched at times, but we were able to stay in control with some top-class play. We had a very young team out with a number of regulars missing due to illness, injury and work commitments and were very grateful to the U16s who played for us on the night. Ryan Loftus was player of the match, leading from the front, finishing with a personal tally of 4-2 and creating at least another 2 goals through his endeavour and creative play.

Team and scorers: C Sheehan; C McHugh (0-1), S O’Leary, C O’Brien; S Callinan, C O’Mahony (0-1), M O’Riordan (0-1); C Linehan (1-0), D Forde; D Barry (1-1), D O’Bric (1-0), J Hennebry (0-1); E Hartnett, E Forde (1-1), R Loftus (4-2); Z Curtin.

Next up is away to Killavullen on Friday, May 17th, which is a rescheduling of one of the games that fell foul to the weather in early April.
