High scoring draw in league

-

Tallow and Dungarvan played out a high scoring draw in the second round of the senior hurling league. We trailed at half-time by 1-9 to 0-10, with Ryan Grey accounting for four from open play. In the second half Stephen Murphy added two points to the scoreline as did Ian Beecher. A high ball to Ryan was off-loaded to Tommy who crashed a left hand shot to the net. The cushion of the aforementioned goal was eroded as Jordan and Robbie encumbered each other and the Dungarvan full forward clinically finished to the net.

Darragh Spillane on his introduction added to our tally but Dungarvan regained a one point advantage with their response. Jordan had a goal saving blockdown as our rear guard creaked. Cian Geary was defending stoutly in this period as he hurled from the front. Tommy Ryan pointed a free at the death to level the game on a scoreline Tallow 1-20 Dungarvan 2-17. We play Clonea in Clonea this Friday at 7.30pm.

MINOR HURLING

Well done to both Billy Murphy and Joseph McDonnell as both played their part in Waterford Minors victory against Limerick last week. They now play in the knockout stage of Munster Minor Championship.

JUNIOR HURLING Killrossanty 1-15 Tallow 2-18

A game of mixed emotions and a poor first half saw us lead by a point courtesy of a Darragh Spillane major. Our lead was helped in no part by the lion-hearted defending of Bob McCarthy fullback. With the aid of the wind we woke up in the second half, Mark O’Brien saw plenty of ball and scored a ‘Ger Farragheresque’ monster sideline. Paul O’Brien sealed our victory at the end with a goal. We play our first home game of the year against Dunhill at 12 on Sunday.
