The serviced apartments market in Germany is some way behind that of the UK and France but since 2010 it has grown by 112%, with an annual average occupancy of 77%, according to apartmentservice.de. This is set to continue, with some 13,000 units planned until 2019, an increase of 40%, and some 100,000 units forecast to open by 2030, representing 10% of the country's hospitality business. Top providers currently are Derag Livinghotels with 1,461 apartments, Adina Apartment Hotels (1,356), Aparthotel Adagio and Adagio Access (698), Citadines (556) and GHOTEL hotel & living (459). Branding is playing a major role in new projects, with micro apartments fast becoming a trend. Operators are also showing a strong interest in secondary destinations – a mark of the sector's growth.
