Fine Gael MEP candidate Harris has five-point plan
FINE GAEL MEP candidate Simon Harris said he will implement his own five point plan for Ireland South if elected.
“This is the most important European Parliament Election since Ireland joined the EEC and we need strong, articulate MEP’s who can stand up for the country of Ireland while forging alliances and bringing forth new ideas,” said Harris. His five point plan includes: 1: Tackle Unemployment “There is a €70 billion EU research fund and Irish firms are already accessing €1 million a week. I will work with businesses and entrepreneurs to access European supports for research, innovation and job creation.” 2: Protect Farming Communities ‘From putting a stop to unfair farm inspections and implementing a ‘common sense’ approach instead, to defending the interests of farmers in Ireland South in terms of CAP, farming families will know they have an ally in me.’
3: Empower People with Disabilities
‘I have spent my entire adult life advocating for people with disabilities and I will carry that fight to Europe. To begin with, I want to see the establishment of a dedicated EU Commissioner for People with Disabilities.’ 4: Sort Out The Banks ‘Not only do we have to ensure that this crash never happens again, we need a fresh voice in Europe pushing for retrospective re- capitalisation of Ireland’s banks.’ 5. Link You With Europe ‘I won’t just disappear should I be elected to Europe, I’ll be in the town halls, community groups and sports clubs meeting my constituents every week.’
