-

Ducon Cup Castlemagner 3-8 Dromtariffe 0-7 ALL plain sailing for Castlemagner on maintaining an impressive unbeaten record in the Ducon Cup to get the better of Dromtariffe.

In difficult conditions, goals counted and a sharper Castlemagner had a degree of more polish to their game. Their prospects were helped from a penalty awarded, Tadgh Collins initial effort came off the crossbar only for Sean Falvey to follow up and net.

Dromtariffe held their own and availed of points to Daniel O'Keeffe and Ger Burns to narrow the arrears 1-4 to 0-5 at the break. However Castlemagner’s influence on the game increased on the restart, plenty to admire from the play of Alan Morrissey, Donal Gayer and Matt O’Sullivan.

And their position was coppenfastened on goals netted by Kevin O’Callaghan and Seán Kerrigan. Lyre 2-8 Boherbue 1-7 LYRE were made to work for a win over previously unbeaten Boherbue in the Ducon Cup.

Inclement conditions made it difficult for both sides yet Lyre got off to a dream start thanks to a Keith McGeogh goal. Boherbue added to an enjoyable tussle and the visitors took encouragement from a Jerry O'Connor goal. However, Lyre followed up in a rapid reply, Denis Roche netting for a 23 to 1-4 advantage at the break.

On the restart, Lyre controlled the ball with Danny Buckley, Brendan Withers and Martin Kearney leading by example. Boherbue were thankful to a brillant save from Demot Cremin that denied Roche. Lyre shaded territorial play with points to the Roche brothers and Barry Murphy confirming the destination of the spoils. Cullen 1-7 Millstreet 0-8 CULLEN held their nerve on returning to winning ways to overcome Millstreet in the Ducon Cup.

Both sides battled through tough conditions on a damp evening where Conor Kearns goal proved decisive to allow Cullen overturn a championship defeat some weeks earlier. A close and engaging contest developed from the outset, Cullen points to Colin Moynihan and Alan Regan matched by Michael Vaughan and Tadgh Collins for Millstreet. However a timely goal from Kearns proved a defining score to allow Cullen lead 1-4 to 0-5 at the break.

The game continued to ebb and flo upon the resumption yet importantly, Cullen kept their noses ahead to win and retain an interest for a place in the knockout phase. Kiskeam 1-11 Dromtariffe 0-8 KISKEAM comfortably saw off the challenge of Dromtariffe in the Ducon Cup.

From a tough and uncompromising tussle, Kiskeam attacked from the start, built a quick lead and generally looked the sharper outfit. The fortunes of Dromtariffe did improve on the changeover yet Kiskeam had enough in reserve to maintain their challenge for a semi-final position. Kiskeam availed of a promising start with Den Joe Casey, Padraig Cronin and Tom O’Sullivan to the fore.

Going forward, a goal from Seán O’Sullivan steered Kiskeam in the right direction to forge a 1-5 to 02 interval advantage.

Dromtariffe instigated a recovery through Ger Burns and Adam Buckley with Gearoid Murphy and Daniel O’Keeffe in fine shooting form.

Still Kiskeam maintained their upperhand to the finish to duly take the points on offer. Castlemagner 5-12 Kilbrin 0-7 ALL too easy for Castlemagner on emerging easy winners over Kilbrin in the Ducon Cup on Tuesday evening.
