Future of Leader and IRD Duhallow no clearer

-

The future of Leader funding and IRD Duhallow is no clearer and at this point every community in Ireland does not know what the future holds for the existing Leader groups.

These Leader groups such as IRD Duhallow have been in operation in most cases for 20+ years and have developed every rural community in Ireland to ensure they are sustainable long into the future.

KILBRIN BETTER BRAVE BANTEER

Banteer played host to Kilbrin on the latest round of the JAHL on Sunday last. A game that opened well saw early drama with the dismissal of Brian O Keeffe after 15 mins. At this stage the game was only in its infancy and Kilbrin were leading, opposed by a point after Patrick O Keeffe opened the scoring and Pat Sexton put over 2 for Banteer. Moving towards half time poor defending from Banteer saw Kilbrin find the net, and lead at half time 1-06 to 0-05, O Keeffe and David Murphy with the remaining scores from Banteer. As a unit Banteer showed a lot better over the hour than the previous week, with Martin Kearney Kevin Tarrant and David Murphy deserving credit for their performances. In the second half Banteer tried every avenue, 3 more points from both Murphy and O Keeffe, another from Sexton, and 2 from Brendan Weathers all chipping in to add to the cause. Kilbrin just kept their noses in front throughout, but credit to the defence for holding them to minimal success. In the end Kilbrin did enough, but this was a step in the right direction Kilbrin 114 Banteer 0-15
