Liscarroll competes in Munster Schools C’ships
MUNSTER SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Some of our club athletes were in action Saturday representing their secondary schools, in the preliminary rounds, 12 athletes were involved, most winning medals but some were unable or did not qualify for the finals. Six competed in the finals: Sarah Tarrant, Kate Ivory, Vickie Cusack, Jodie Cusack and Kevin O’Leary. Those lucky enough to be in the medals were Kate Ivory, 3rd in 200m; Jodie Cusack, 3rd in javelin and Vickie Cusack, 3rd in 75m hurdles and 2nd in javelin with a mighty throw of 31.34 meters, a new personal best. These competitions are a great outlet for athletes to express themselves at a different level but it’s a pity they clashed with Cork County Championships.
MASTERS
Some of our Masters were in action Sunday last but results not available at time of writing.
COUNTY RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS
at CIT next Sunday 25th. All clubs from the county can have teams at this event in ages from U9 to U16, boys and girls. Liscarroll AC will have some teams competing, a final decision was not made at the time of writing.
MUNSTERS are two weeks later with the team X 2 championships for U9, 10, 11 and individual for ages U12 and 13. The team X 2 competitions are the least child friendly of all the championships because if you don’t have 2 in the same age group, you have no team. If you have one child only that child cannot go forward to the next round, no matter how good he or she is. If you do have two athletes to pair up, one being a sprinter and the other a middle distance runner, one can’t help the other in their best events, so both lose out. From a club point of view, we will do our best to enter as many as possible. In the meantime training will continue as usual i.e. Mondays in Charleville, 6 to 7, Tuesdays and Thursdays in Liscarroll and Fridays in Charleville from 6.30 to 8 p.m., all three nights. Any changes to the above arrangement will be notified by text to parents.

CORK CITY MARATHON
June Bank Holiday, Monday 2nd is Cork City Marathon. Cork AAI is as usual hoping to have helpers from as many clubs as possible within the county. The event is good financially for the County Board, which in turn benefits clubs by way of grants. If anyone would like to help with stewarding please let Esther or Anne Murray know as soon as possible.
