THE KANTURK U21 footballers fell short in their opening round of the Cork County Championship at Coachford on Saturday last 17th May.

With Aghada providing the opposition, the opening half was a close affair, which finished with Kanturk trailing on a 0-7 to 2-3 score line.

On the resumption, Kanturk opened brightly and an early goal followed by three points gave Kanturk a 1-10 to 2-3 score line after 40 minutes.

Amazingly, Kanturk were only to score once more before the final whistle as Aghada upped the ante and their third goal gave them the impetus to push for victory. And with Kanturk finding it difficult to score it was the East cork side who went on to take the spoils.

Kanturk’s last point narrowed the arrears to two points but time ran out on them as they made their championship exit on a 1-11 to 3-7 score line.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING

Kanturk travelled to Ballynoe on Sunday last short eight of their 2013 county championship winning side and after a poor opening half put in a good second half showing before losing on a 308 to 2-15 score line.

With their Cork Premier Intermediate championship debut over a week away, Kanturk travel to Mallow to face Aghabulloge in their next IHL tie on Friday 23rd May with an 8pm start.
