MEELIN ANTI-LITTER CHALLENGE 2014 The village of Meelin is participat­ing in the Cork County Council Anti-Litter Challenge. This will take place from May 19th to June 25th inclusive. Please show your community spirit by getting involved and taking an active role in litter pick-up. An informatio­n leaflet will be delivered to each household in the village. The area to be covered is inside the 50km speed limits. Community Council members will be doing a sweep of the areas each morning of the judging period and any help would be appreciate­d. Judges will be in the village between 10am and 5pm each weekday. We will have a general walk through / clean up on May 15th @ 8p.m. starting at the school car park. Duhallow U14 hurlers have reached the County Final of the Premier 1 Hurling Grade, the highest level of hurling in Cork. Having beaten Blackrock & Mallow along the way, they booked their spot in the final next Saturday night by beating the famed Na Piarsaigh last Saturday on a score of 2.18 to 0.3. This is a superb achievemen­t & it's a great honour to now face Midleton next Saturday evening, scheduled for 5pm in Pairc Ui Rinn. Congratula­tions to our St Marks players who are involved with this Duhallow team: Neilus Lehane, Kevin O Connor & Thomas O Callaghan.

Juvenile hurling & camogie training continues every Tuesday night & Saturday morning.

IRD DUHALLOW BEALTAINE FESTIVAL

As part of the IRD Duhallow Bealtaine Festival There will be Ceili Dancing classes in Bruach Na Carraige Rockchapel over 3 Satutrdays starting next Saturday the 17trh of May at 10.30am. Participan­ts will learn a number of Ceili Dances starting with The Haymakers Jig on Saturday the 17th. Cost €3. Everybody welcome

CLONFERT CEMETERY MASS

The annual open air mass in Clonfert cemetery will be celebrated on Ascension Thursday, 29th May at 7.30pm. Please inform family members who now live outside the parish and would like to attend. We would also appeal to people to clean up the graves of loved ones for this very special occasion.
