Lisgriffin Sports to be held on Bank Holiday
BUTTEVANT
SPORTS. Lisgriffin, in the parish of Buttevant, will again host it's annual sports day, on this coming Bank Holiday Monday, June 02nd., 2014. This annual sports occasion is eagerly awaited, and anticipated, and draws competitors, and spectators, from far and wide. The sports will again be held, on the lands of Kathleen, and Dermot O'Mahony, by their kind, and generous permission. The fun, and games will get under way at 02.00p.m., and a good attendance is anticipated. Your support will be warmly acknowledged.
STREETSCAPE
By the time you have read this article, there will have been a meeting, and discussion, held between Buttevant Community Council representatives, and the relevant authorities, notably, Cork County Council, and the National Roads Authority. The meeting will have been informed, examined and discussed the newly proposed alterations, to the previously published streetscape proposals. The main bone of contention, particularly with the business people of the town, was the proposed changes to the amount of parking that would be available within the environs of the main street. No doubt these new plans will be available, to be seen, and viewed, by all interested parties, sooner rather than later. Here's hoping that these plans will be able to be implemented, without any further inconveniences, and that the proposed work will get under way at the earliest possible time scale.
SUMMER CAMPS
The local sports organisations are busy preparing for their relevant summer sports camps, which are held annually, for the benefit of their members.
Micheal McCarthaighs juvenile club will hold their annual “Cul Camp”, from Monday June 30th. 2014 to Friday July 04th. 2014 inclusive. The camp will be for children aged 06years to 12years respectively, and early booking is advisable. Registration will take place this Friday night, in the G.A.A., hall from 06.30p.m., to 08.00p.m., inclusive. All inquiries to - 086-8870306- .
BUTTEVANT SOCCER CLUB
will hold it's annual summer camp from Monday July 21st.,2014, to Friday July 25th. 2014, inclusive. All participants will receive an exclusive F. A.I., sports kit, which includes jersey, socks and shorts, a backpack and a football as well as a certificate of participation. The camp is open to boys, and girls, aged between -06-and -14years of age, with the club running from -10.30-a.m., to -03.00- p.m., each day. The fee is €65- per chil with family discounts also available. Place can be booked on line at summersoccerschools.ie. or by contacting the clubhouse.
SOCCER CLUB
Buttevant soccer club will hold it's annual general meeting on Tuesday June 03rd.,2014, at the clubhouse, at -08.00p.m. All nominations, for the committee, will have to be with the club secretary, seven days in advance of the meeting. Nomination forms can be had from the clubs' office. New, and intending members, are welcome to attend.
PROCESSION
The annual Corpus Christi Procession, in Buttevant, will be held, following the -06.30p.m., Mass, on Saturday June 21st.,2014. The location of this years' open air benediction has yet to be announced.
