Ballyhooly show good form in win over Glenlara
COUNTY JBFC Ballyhooly 3-15 Glenlara 2-4 gained supremecy in the half back line and midfield areas. They used the short passing at speed to great effect and their forwards in regular supply took some very good scores.
Kevin Kiely and James Roche with early points gave Ballyhooly the lead. Darren O'Keeffe had a very good point for Glenlara. O'Keeffe did well on the 40 for the Duhallow side but lacked overall support. Ballyhooly had five points on the trot by Darragh O'Reilly, Denis Kiely (2) Cathal O'Keeffe, Michael Whelan before they had their first goal in the 18th minute when Kevin O'Driscoll combined well with impressive James Roche for a well taken goal 1-7 to 0-1.
Further pressure yielded points by Kevin Kiely and Michael Whelan before Cathal O'Keeffe with a well taken goal had Ballyhooly practically out of sight when ahead 2-9 to 0-1. Michael Whelan and Darren O'Keeffe exchanged a late point that saw Ballyhooly hold a 2-10 to 0-2 lead at the break.
Both sides introduced two substitutes on the restart. Good work by Kevin Kiely led to a point by Patrick O'Connor. Glenlara never gave up, they won a lot of possession in the halfbackline with Joe Collins, Darren O'Keeffe, John O'Callaghan and substitute Dan Murphy doing well. They found the Ballyhooly defence hard to break down.
Darren O'Keeffe had a goal for Glenlara with Denis Kiely finding the net for Ballyhooly in the 48th minute 3-14 to 1-3. Shaun O’Mahony followed with another point for the winners with Dan Murphy having a goal after a four man movement for Glenlara. In the end Ballyhooly emerged victorious by a 14-point margin.
