Young hurlers inspire progression in JBHC

-

On a miserable May evening in Carrigadrohid , the Dromtarriffe Junior B hurlers easily saw off the challenge of Uibh Laoire in Round 2 of the County JBHC. While the pitch was excellently prepared in the Mid Cork Venue , the slippery surface made it difficult for both sets of players in the opening period. Conor Cremin opened Dromtarrffe's scoring from play in the 2nd minute which was closely replied by a point from Uibh Laoire which turned out to be their only converted chance throughout the 65 minutes played. , both sides were guilty of missed chances but more so were the Dromtarrffe attack as Dromtarriffes defence held up the pressure with some great clearances. A second Cremin point was added before Conor Cremin latched onto the incoming sliotar to find the back of the Uibh Laoire net on the 20th minute.

Two further first half points were converted by Sean Howard , one from a free before the half time whistle sounded , Dromtarriffe 1-4 to 0-1 ahead. Danny Mullane was introduced at the break for Paudie O Callaghan and Dromtarriffe started in positive fashion with 3 early points from Howard ( 2) & Mark O Connor. Uibh Laoire did have several point chances all going wide of the intended target but thanks to a strong rear-guard no challenge around our goal mouth proved any danger as the team held strong in defence. Colin Mullane was introduced mid-way through the second half for Darragh Crowley and with the midfield and forwards working well Dromtarriffe started to reap the rewards on the score-sheet as Danny Mullane , O Connor , Cremin & Howard all added points , late on saw the introduction of Derry O Flynn , Shane O Riordan & Aaron O Halloran for Mark O Connor , Conor O Donoghue & Conor Cremin respectively. Dromtarrffe now await Round 3 of the County draw to see their next opponents. Scorers : Conor Cremin 1-3 , Sean Howard 0-6 , Mark O Connor 0-2 , Danny Mullane 0-1 .
